Well, last night(about 2am) I went to the hospital, because my tonsils were not getting any better, and I had a rising fever. Went to Middletown Hospital, got admitted right away. The nurse at the check in station looked at my tonsils and basically said "Wow! I an't believe you can still breathe!" Then for about the next 15 or 20 minutes, various doctors and nurses came by to see my tonsils and all said that they had never seen anything like it. The nurse then tried to find a good vein to put an IV in, she stuck me twice in the left arm, and after getting nowhere there I told her she could use my right arm. she then got the vein immediately. The doctor told her to administer I believe it was decadrine to reduce my swelling, and then something else to reduce my feve. both seemed to work just fine. about 5 the nurse came in and said that the tests showed that I had Mono. no strep. So...That's basically the end of the story, I have Mono, not strep, the doc I went to was wrong and should have done a throat culture even though she didn't think I really needed a culture done. I now have the joy of letting Tiffany know that I have mono...woo...hoo...

another week, another illness. This sucks a LOT. I went to the doctor's today and was told I most likely have strep. For the record, this is the first time I have ever had strep. My tonsils are as big as cats, it hurts to swallow, it hurts to talk, it just generally hurts. any prayers would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully the Amoxicillin will do its job.

Well, just over a week, and another update on the ol' blog, I guess i'm getting back into the habit ok.

First off, for all my nerd friends(do I have any other kind?) Check THIS out!!!(note: it's star wars related)

Second, if you like film at all, SEE PAN'S LABYRINTH!!(note the caps, bold, italics, and underline denoting its importance). This movie was spectacular. The artistic direction was stunning, the music was incredible, the acting and story were good. This movie had everything in it that tells me why I like movies.

Thirdly, i was sick all weekend, but am feeling much better now. I suppose that's about it, sayanora.

Oh yeah, in my illness, I finished reading Terry Pratchett's Wintersmith(great book), and am now reading Michael Crichton's Next(so far a good book.)

Sorry for the long absense of posting, school's kept me ridiculously busy.

Wow...after watching just one episode of it, I may already have a new favorite anime. The anime in question is called Bartender. Basically it's about a bartender and the clientelle of of his bar in the Ginza District of Tokyo called Eden Hall. The gist of the show is that people come in, and they order a drink, or have him make a drink for them, and there ends up being some story surrounding the drink. Also each episode shows how to make one of the cocktails displayed in the show.

I really need to post more...

On Saturday, I came to a startling realization. Wal-Mart has leprosy! "What?!!" You ask and exclaim at the same time. Well, hear me out. it basically works like this. If a person has leprosy, they have pieces of skin and stuff falling off of them fairly often. What is more like skin to a store than their prices? Nothing, that's what. Therefore, Wal-Mart, with its "Watch for falling prices" marquee everywhere is basically saying, hey, look at me, i'm a leper! Wal-Mart doesn't care where its prices fall, they just fall all around, everywhere, not caring who is effected by them. So, there you have it, plain and simple, Wal-Mart is leprous.

PS. is there anything more fitting for discussion about leprosy than the fact that i'm playing a surgery based game?

Wow...I can't believe it's been over a month since my last post...sorry for my xanga absence. I'll try and stay more regular now, again.

Now for something completely different...

Ok, so most people that get into conversations with me that involve gemstones(which happens more often than you might think) have heard me state that I HATE diamonds. Well, here's an article that can tell you why.

De Beers needed a slogan for diamonds that expressed both the theme of romance and legitimacy. An N. W. Ayer copywriter came up with the caption "A Diamond Is Forever," which was scrawled on the bottom of a picture of two young lovers on a honeymoon

The major investors in the diamond mines realized that they had no alternative but to merge their interests into a single entity that would be powerful enough to control production and perpetuate the illusion of scarcity of diamonds. The instrument they created, in 1888, was called De Beers Consolidated Mines, Ltd

The diamond invention is far more than a monopoly for fixing diamond prices; it is a mechanism for converting tiny crystals of carbon into universally recognized tokens of wealth, power, and romance. To achieve this goal, De Beers had to control demand as well as supply.

Since "young men buy over 90% of all engagement rings" it would be crucial to inculcate in them the idea that diamonds were a gift of love: the larger and finer the diamond, the greater the expression of love. Similarly, young women had to be encouraged to view diamonds as an integral part of any romantic courtship.

By 1941, The advertising agency reported to its client that it had already achieved impressive results in its campaign. The sale of diamonds had increased by 55 percent in the United States since 1938

These are just a few miniscule marketing reasons why I don't like diamonds, The actual human exploitation really runs much much deeper.
